Development Update: The F.U.N.N. Clinic

The Follow-Up Neonatal (F.U.N.N.) Clinic is a specialized program designed for babies who have been released from NICU due to premature birth, low birth weight and other medical issues that may affect the the baby's development. Assessment of the baby's development will be done on the baby's corrected age at 4, 8, 12, 18 and 24 months old.  Doctors will assess the weight, size, motor and cognitive skills, and feeding and sleeping habits of the baby at these milestones.  The goal of these assessments is to promote growth and development during the baby's first 2 years.

Of course, such a great milestone assessment will almost guarantee great photo opportunities.  Snap, snap and snap...  Below are some of the pictures we took on that day.  Enjoy!

Skylar @ 5.5 months old (corrected age 4.5 months old)

Cedric @ 5.5 months old (corrected age 4.5 months old)

Ethan @ 5.5 months old (corrected age 4.5 months old)

Left to Right: Cedric, Skylar and Ethan

During our ride to the F.U.N.N. Clinic, Cedric and Ethan both fell asleep...  All our beanies love car ride, we often found them in sleep mode at arrival.  It's a real joy to watch!

Shortly after we arrived the F.U.N.N. Clinic, one of the doctors begun to perform some physical assessment to Skylar.

Doctor checks the legs of Skylar

Doctor check the vision of Skylar and assess his ability to turn his head around during tummy time

Doctor check the back flipping skill of Skylar

Skylar scored perfect for all the physical assessments!!!  VoV...

Skylar stealing a break and try to recover from the physical assessment.  So, it's Cedric turn for the cognitive assessment.

As usual, zombie Cedric will try to take a bite on everything he got a grip on.

Once Cedric got a hold onto a toy he likes, he won't let go of it until he is done with it!  "Stopping stealing my toy!!!" Cedric screamed.

It's Ethan's turn, but he was in bad mood and will not let the doctor to get a hold of him.  So mom Fion came for the rescue.

Ethan kept on chewing his toy in the comfort of Fion.  The doctor gave up to do a assessment on him because of his persisted crankiness.

Finally, upon completion of all the assessments (except Ethan), I took a group picture of mom Fion, Cedric, Skylar and Ethan.

Although Ethan did not received a full physical assessment, but the doctor had noticed that he had a flat spot on the back of his head.  So, the doctor had requested us to increase the amount of tummy time spent on him.  Poor Ehtan... he hates tummy time!!!  NOOOOOOOO........  Ethan will need to return to the F.U.N.N. Clinic for a follow up appointment in 2 months.  >_<

We got home early and decided to take some more pictures of the beanies.

We later found out that Ethan was in bad mood due to tiredness.  He crashed out shortly after we got home and took a few pictures of him as shown above.  Oops...  Something to remember going forward.  However, Skylar and Cedric are still pretty pumped after their visit to the F.U.N.N. clinic. So we decided to place the twin boys together for a few more pictures.

To close out the day, we bathe the boys and change their outfit back to their sleeper.  They all felt pretty tired from the day out, so they slept through the night.  Yes, you have heard it right, the beanies can now sleep through the night - a much needed break for both Fion and I (WHAT A BLESSING!!!  SMILE...)

- Thanks for reading and to be continued -
